In September of 2016, a masterpiece was born. Well, it wasn’t quite a masterpiece yet. October of 2018 is when the app began to gain popularity in large quantities. Prior to 2016, the app was called Musical.ly. It was used mostly by a younger audience and had its hand with old Vine stars. TikTok has been a huge starting spot for young and emerging artists in the last year and a half.
I, being a TikTok fiend, see a lot of different content on my ‘For You Page.’ TikTok has a very specific algorithm that brings you tailored content for your interests. One of my interests is music (If that was not obvious). Not only do I see my favorite recording artists, but I have also been able to discover many new ones as well. Much like when young singers would post on YouTube, many of them have since turned to the shortened video option that TikTok offers. While hearing these artists, I have compiled quite the list of some of my favorites that I have found!

One of the first TikTok singers that I absolutely loved was Claudia! She has such a poetic and charismatic voice. The rasp and the low blown out notes make every video she makes enjoyable. One night, I binged about an hour’s worth of her videos. The passion she puts behind her singing is incredible. While her YouTube only has 2 videos, please head over to watch her on TikTok. 2. Jack (hunt.jack) and Sam Hunt (hunt.sam)
These two Australian singers have taken their TikTok fans by storm. The two duet together frequently on their YouTube, the two often post their own videos on the app. Jack posts funny singing videos, as well as serious ones. Sam posts other types of videos along with his singing ones as well. Both of them have heavy presence of their accents in their singing and it makes it that much better. The pair post a lot of One Direction covers and that is even how I found the two of them (shocker?). If you are looking for a good couple of guys that can belt a tune, check them out!
3. Ben Sheffield (@ben.sheffield)
While this musician’s official band name is The Drama Scene, his TikTok is listed under his own name and that is how I found him! Ben is a talented artist that has a voice as smooth as butter. He has many original songs both on his account and on his YouTube channel. He covers many high interest pop songs, but somehow makes them sound… not pop, but also pop. He does the acoustically and they get this light grunge feel to them. He adds a grit to it and just gives these traditional songs a deepened twist. MAke sure to check him out! His music is available on Spotify under The Drama Scene.
4. Emilee Flood (@emileeflood)
Emilee is a talented woman that has SO much power in her small voice. Her high toned singing brings in many fans. She has even been featured on Spotify’s Indie Pop playlist. This singer is bound to bring people to their feet with her music. She has this way baout her that takes a hold of you and makes you listen to her. She sings mix of indie, pop, and classic songs like ‘Fly Me to the Moon.’ Click here to check out her YouTube where she not only posts overs, but other hobby videos as well!
While this is certainly not all of the incredible talent that is located on TikTok, it is a list of some of my favorites. As I find more, I will update this list. There are so many incredible artists that can pull you in in sixty seconds or less. Take the time to check these folks out and feel free to reach out if any more need added!
