Artist highlight: Badflower

I have been hearing about Badflower for months, from their fans, from bands like Ice Nine Kills and Shinedown, and from lead singer Josh’s social media that has been shared to other accounts that I follow. Why it took me so long to finally listen to them, I don’t know. What I do know, is that this band is one of the most creative and honest bands I have ever come across. Ever.

When it comes to the music I enjoy, I tend to lean more toward the heavy stuff for sure. But the next thing I am drawn to is lyrics and lyrical content. I am such a huge fan of Beartooth not only because of their intense riffs and heavy vocals, but because their songs are incredibly deep, meaningful, and personal. You can relate to the pain that Caleb expresses in songs. Badflower has the same talent.

The songs that Badflower creates, bring such an honesty and such raw emotion to the surface similar to Beartooth. If they were to tour together, that would be the most intense emotional rollercoaster I could ever be on. Songs like “Ghost” and “Daddy” bring issues to light in such a straight forward way that listeners and fans can hold onto them from the first listen.

It usually takes me a minute to get into a band, but Badflower have become one of my favorites in no time at all. They’re easily one of the most important bands out there right now and I can’t wait to see what they do next and see them on tour this summer.

Badflower will be opening for 311 and Incubus this summer and will be in Bonner Springs on July 26. Get your tickets here.
